This is a big deal. An industry that has not had a meaningful show for some time is reviving and the proof of the pudding is in the fact that investments into a hi-fi show are being made in the Mother City of Cape Town. For Joburgers such as ourselves, this is annoying and a further reason to semigrate.
Nonethless it is happening this weekend with exhibitors from HFX Systems, Thirteen Hifi, Listening Room, Sky Audio, Sounds Natural (the SA contingent), Underground Records and Nu Spinz no less featuring. Local brands such as Bentley Acoustics, DIY speakers by Brian Bester (yes please!), and a sounds natural grouping comprising of Sonor Audio, Lance Dixon, PL Audio and Valve Audio will round out the South African offerings. Do yourself a favour and listen to just how good local is lekker has become – we have much talent in SA!
What you can expect to hear and see are drool inducing high end, a plethora of formats, a focus on new tech via streaming and what it sounds like these days and a convivial atmosphere built around sound and home entertainment. At AV News we LOVE shows and for us the challenge has clearly been set by the Cape Town Hi-Fi Club. Joburg must accept and go one bigger and better!
Venue is the Southern Sun Newlands. Tickets are R50 a head – but if you ask us very nicely before COB Friday 14 Sep, we’ll add you onto the guest list FOC.
